Dr. Jeff Gehlsen

Dr. Gehlsen graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1985.  He comes from a family of six boys. His father was the Vice President of business at Palmer for over 40 years.  Dr. Gehlsen had his first chiropractic experience as a youngster with an ear infection. When he was unable to rest overnight, his mother made an appointment with the family chiropractor and had great results!  Dr. Gehlsen and his wife, Janine, relocated to Freeport in January of 1986.  He was licensed in March of 1986 and started to develop his practice with an emphasis on family care and extremity work. Drs. Gehlsen and Hulsebus practiced together for several years before forming a partnership in 1990. 

Dr. Gehlsen has been involved in several professional memberships, which include the Illinois Prairie State Chiropractic Association serving as president and district delegate, the Palmer College of Chiropractic Alumni Association, and the Palmer College of Chiropractic Presidents Club.  Dr. Gehlsen has been involved in numerous Freeport community organizations.  In 2007, he served as the Chairman of the board of the Freeport Chamber of Commerce and was awarded the Dale LeBaron Memorial Award which recognizes an individual or a group of individuals who have selflessly served the community with persistence, dedication and enthusiasm. In 2007, he was also appointed to the board of directors of the Freeport Community Foundation and currently is serving as president. He served as president of the YMCA of Northwest Illinois in 2006 and continues as board member.  He is a past president and board member of the Lincoln Douglas Kiwanis Club and a past board member of Big Brothers and Big Sisters.  He was a recipient of the Hixson Fellowship award in May of 1999 from Kiwanis International.  He was a member of the Highland Community College Leadership Institute 1994-95. 

In his spare time he enjoys jogging, bicycling, and traveling to new destinations.

Dr. Deb Welser

Dr. Welser, who practices full spine care with an emphasis in pediatric care, has been associated with HGC since 1989.  She attended Scott Community College and Augustana College prior to receiving her Doctor of Chiropractic in 1989 from Palmer College of Chiropractic.  Before associating with HGC, she worked in the laboratory at Moline Public Hospital from 1985-1987, the Radiology Department at Palmer College in 1988-1989 and interned at Zisch Chiropractic Clinic in Littleton, Colorado in 1989. 

Dr. Welser is a member of the International Chiropractic association and has been a public speaker for osteoporosis, nutrition, and chiropractic.  She has also been an active member of the Freeport community.  She was active in Big Brothers, Big Sisters in 1989 and a United Way volunteer from 1994-1999.  She served on the Board of Education at Our Redeemer Luthern Church in 1996 as a chairman of the Aquin Live Auction from 1998-2000, and she is an active member of the Lamplighter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA).  She served as ABWA program chair in 1995 and 2006, the ways and means committee from 1997-1999, president from 1996-1997, and was named ABWA Woman of the Year in 1999.  She currently is servicing on ABWA’s Board of Education for scholarship donations and is travel coordination for the Rockford Raptors Soccer Club.  She has been nominated for Freeport’s Women of Excellence. 

When she isn’t at the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, biking, skiing, hiking, and watching her children’s sporting events.

Dr. Josh Rardin    

Dr. Rardin graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2006. 
He practices full spine care with an emphasis on low back and disc symptoms.  Dr. Rardin also teaches the wellness classes offered by the office.  He attended Northwest Missouri State University along with Iowa State University for his undergraduate education. After being injured while working construction, he began his treatment under chiropractic care. His improvement lead to his decision to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. He and his wife, Dr. Lisa Rardin, practiced in Iowa for two years before moving to Freeport in 2009 to join our group. He comes from a family of a younger brother and sister. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He is currently a member of the Freeport Jaycees and ambassador for the Chamber of Commerce.
